Description

The talk is about scenarios where colour is the data itself rather than an axis of variation to represent data. With a focus on ways to represent/visualize colour, its application in user studies and other scraped datasets and some basic colour theory. This is an extension of my most unique visualization work about 3 years ago for a conference paper to plot mood light preferences of users listening to hindustani classical. I would like to expand on that work in a way to inform all data viz enthusiasts about colour spaces/representations and colour choices in various contexts.

Current Flow -

Initial Problem Statement (Music User Study) Solution Provided (Github Linked Below) Improvements to be finished by March (Switch to OkLab/LCH, Expand to 3D/Animated) Other places with colour data (GenAI Frontend Tools/Skills - Already Scraped/Collected)

Also exploring the following to add if time permits -

Applications of original work (Hindustani informed synth app maybe presented in ADCx India at BIC) Even more data to scrape (Emotion Science Datasets, Movies/Long YouTube videos, Posters/Covers) Colour Representations within Language Models (Likely using a different viz paradigm of projections)
